I’m Julie Wilson, an accredited and award-winning senior communications professional.
I’ve been lucky enough to spend my career helping clients create awareness, build connections, and shape the conversations that matter to them most. And I've loved it.
With more than 18 years of communications and public & media relations experience, I've had the pleasure of holding senior positions with some of Canada’s top brands, including: CIBC, TELUS, Rogers Communications, MasterCard Canada and KPMG International.
It all began with public television. I got my start as a publicity intern at TV Ontario, and even started reporting and hosting various public TV shows for Rogers Cable. Thankfully, those non paying jobs eventually evolved into more strategic positions, and I soon began to have a hand shaping the conversations that reporters were interested in. Instead of asking the questions, I was being asked.
Along the way, I developed excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills, and became a seasoned public speaker, media trainer and media spokesperson. I would like to note I did win the Bayview Glen Public School Grade 3 Public Speaking/Speech Writing Competition (my topic was Soap Operas) and I've also written a Master's Thesis entitled - "Children & Television - The Potential to Learn" (free copies available).
I hold Certificates in Reputation Management from the Reputation Institute, a Certificate in Public Relations from the University of Victoria, a Masters Degree in Education, as well as, an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from York University.
I’m also an Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and have served on the Board of Directors for the IABC/Toronto Chapter.
I strongly believe in giving back to my profession and have done so through teaching, volunteering with IABC/Toronto, and acting as an advisor for Humber College's PR Program.
